Karl, I am feeding my 4 chicks on crumbs at the moment,as you would expect.  They are getting very 'scratchy' and 'pecky' for food.  Is there anything else I can give them such as small amounts of cabbage or lettuce to keep them busy?

By the way, transferred them onto soil today.  It seems a whole lot better for them to run around and scratch on.

yeh you can put a lettuce leaf ina clothes peg attached to string to enable them to peck at it .. roll the leaf over a few times .chick weed in still growing mate in shelterd spots you can use that fat hen also

Hi Monty,

how old are your chicks?   I move mine off of chick crumbs and on to growers pellets at about 5-6 weeks depending how hungry they are.  and like Karl i do give them shredded greens suspended from a cage thing (sorry about technical term) but its like a baby hay net!

My buff sussex and RIR are off to their new home in 2 weeks (gonna be hard to see them go - even tho' I know its to a good home where they're going to be spoiled (a bit like Aunt Sally's set up)
