I use poultry spice, which is a mineral supliment.  I also use Poultry boost which is a vitamin supliment.  I give it to the chooks once or twice a week just to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need.

I have a spray can of purple spray and one of stockholm tar type of stuff, but have never used them, what do you use it for  :?:

hi aunt sally, i use it for any external injuries, such as pulled feathers, and injuries that have been caused by pecking, especially on the comb :)

Hello,
I have a pekin cockerel which with all this rain has got quite ragged feathers around his feet which my hens keep pulling (only when its wet though) Would something like stockholm tar work as a deterent? I am now using wood chips in the run to aid draining and give him somewhere drier to scratch.

When you buy a blue/purple spray I strongly recommend going to your vets or if you can your local agricultural store and getting some Terramycin/Alamycin spray for any scrapes or injuries it is fab and cheaper versions don't quite make the grade. Stops the need for giving any antibiotics as is contains a fab one!. For scaly leg I just use lashings of vaseline or really cheap paraffin based cream. For the Pekins feathers in this weather I just trim the food feathers back - problem solved. Hope this helps. And i've found a fabulous conditioner called Vionate just add to the feed - tis a multivit and mineral supplement and they love it. It can be easy to administer in feed by adding a little veg oil so it sticks to the feed.
