Angelle Tomatoes
« on: August 09, 2018, 11:53 »
I have started growing some Angelle baby plum tomatoes from seed . They are growing quite strongly in my greenhouse, so far. However as the seeds were taken from tomatoes that I had bought from the supermarket, I don't know if they are the cordon type or bush variety. Does any one know , as I can't seem to find any info.

I've just had a look and it's difficult to say, but I got more info when I used "bush" rather than "cordon" in my search box.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

It was developed by Syngenta Breeding so is a hybrid specifically bred for commercial growing under cover, so will be a cordon variety. Syngenta introduces new snack tomatoes in Spain
It's unlikely your tomatoes will be exactly the same as their parent, but they may taste and look similar. You just never know what will happen.

Syngenta have a large file/download
https://www.syngenta.dk/file/1791/download?token=uIAInKcZ with details of temperature, humidity, growth rate, number of trusses etc for commercial growers if you are really interested. Most of it doesn't make sense for home gardeners though.

We bought some Angella tomato's this week from Tesco's and today I got about 18 seeds from one plum tomato. Will try them in my greenhouse next year. I planted Dutch Strabeena seeds last season, again bought from Tesco's, and they grew very well in the greenhouse but the Blight clobbered the 8 plants outside.
