Yes, agree with New Shoot.

Not much to worry about, but you can squish the end of the trail if you want.

Grow Your Own / Pea netting protection
« Last post by bobbyt on April 14, 2024, 17:18 »
Can anyone please recommend any pea protection netting that lets bees in and keeps out pests. All the netting I try always ends up in a tangled mess, and thats just when I unpack from new! >:(
Perhaps I should just pay a bit more. I find most of the netting I've used is difficult to stretch over the pea supports, and is totally unworkable unless you have about 3 pairs of hands. Please help if you can. :D
Need a few nets about 3 x 3 metres.

The plants should be ok as they will send new shoots out from the remaining leaf joints. Just select the shoot you want to grow on or leave them all if they are bush plants. As a contingency you could sow a few more seed in the next couple of weeks as they will still produce a really good crop, perhaps a week or two later than the plants you have growing.
Good point re more seed sowing Fisherman this could result in unintentional crop succession.

Grow Your Own / Re: Compost Review 2024
« Last post by Potty Plotty Lotty on April 14, 2024, 16:26 »
I’ve invested in some Westland seed sowing compost. It was on a deal at my local Tesco a while back, so got 4.  You will have to shop around to get the best current deal as I think it is back up to £4.99 a bag.

For everyday I have come to the conclusion that all the peat frees are pretty awful unless you pay a premium, so have found my own mix. I know not everyone wants to pre-mix, but it’s affordable for me and so far working well. I got a couple of B&Q own brand 100l bags, which look’s exactly the same as Andy’s Miracle Grow, some cheap small coir blocks from EBay, some John Innes no 2 and just basic Growmore. 50/50 peat-free and re-hydrated coir, a few good handfuls of JI no 2 until it feels like it has a bit of body but not too heavy and a handful of fertiliser if I am potting on and want to get plants growing well.

I have taken note of this for next year-v helpful. I'm using Jack's magic peat compost for sowing which I bought at the end of last year (I love it!) and very sad to see the end of it as I know it.

Not been out but even indoors feels cooler than yesterday.  None of the wet stuff but still not very bright.   Surely it's got to warm up soon and be spring like.

Still coughing, sneezing and feeling like ..... (insert own description).  Paul is having roast        pork, potatoes, carrots, parsnips and swede.  Again I'll pick, a potato and some carrots probably.
