I tried some years ago - the downside was the cost - they seemed to be much more expensive than the usual ones. The upside is they are easier to handle therfore easier to space so you avoid having to thin them. I got pretty good germination from them. I also tried seed tapes which I have given up on. The theory is good but we have squirrels that dig stuff up. It is not a big problem to dig a few seeds but they pulled up the tape in lengths. I found it only took a couple of seeds to not germinate and you end up with big gaps. Do the price comparison and make your own mind up - my soil has too many stones for me to grow carrots - I got a couple of baths recently that I plan on filling with sieved soil mixed with sand so I can use them to grow carrots.

Nor mine! Very cheap in fact. When I bought them it was from somewhere like B&Q and they were twice the price. For that price I would use them!

The site I'm looking at says 2,500 for £1.95, so even better.

Autumn King

I've been an advocate of Moles for some years, has the message finally got through?

Oh - what's even better, that price comes down to £1.83 if you pay at the time of order AND even even more - there's no postage on top.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I don't think that I could afford the fleece to protect that lot, DD.  :)

Definitions of pelleted seed on the Web:

    * Individual seeds enclosed in a clay pellet which breaks down on contact with water. Allows very small seed to be handled and sown more easily.

It makes handling them an aweful lot easier.

I was going to post this:

It's a single seed, coated in a material that will dissolve when damp. Makes for easier handling of small seed and less thinning.

Until someone came along with a copy/paste!

Sorry DD. I didn't realise it would be a problem.

Sometimes I really don't know why I try to help on these forums.

I shan't bother in future.  :tongue2:
