Pelleted seed needs a little more moisture to get it started? Pellets were invented to allow easy mechanical sowing of small or irregular shaped seeds on farms. Commercially the clay coating can also carry insectasides and fungicides but not in garden seeds. They can be useful in the garden, especially for some flowers. Onion seed are probably big enough to plant one by one with the fingers.

Sowed!

Give them a bit more time. My pelleted cauliflower seed are a good two weeks behind all the other brassicas I sowed. I almost gave up on them!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

12-14 days is about the average for non-pelleted onion seed in warm (kitchen window sill) conditions for me - in your situation I'd be very gently disturbing the surface of one or two of the modules to see if there were any signs of life.

I have found that onion seed over a year old is not as viable as leek seed, for example, but that shouldn't be a problem in your case.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

planted   or   sowed  lol

Explain the difference

Sow a seed
Plant a plant
Bury a potato

How did I do? :)

P.S> Sew a button :D

Your seed is old! Some may germinate but I have found that onion seed which is more than one year old is usually not going to germinate. I sowed some seed I bought last year that said sow by 2016.... not one seed germinated ! No problem at all with the same seed last year and it was from a totally fresh foil packet the pack was in two 1g lots. I strongly recommend not wasting time with any onion seed more than one season old... others may disagree though !

Only disagree with your suggestion that the OP's seed is old (packed in year-ending 2014 - perhaps you're thinking 'sow by'?)  ;)

Yes you are right JayG ! Then it is fair to say that they need more time to germinate they should come away as they are new season seeds.
