Orange Spots on Raspberries
« on: June 07, 2010, 08:36 »
Hi all, looking for some help.  This is the third year for our raspberries and the first time we've had problems. Some of the leaves, particularly close to the ground have got bright orange spots on the upper side. Anyone had any experience of this and will the crop still be safe to eat? We garden organically, but are not opposed to using sprays if we have to and if they are marked as suitable for organic growing.

I've tried looking on the net and it seems that it's a type of rust. There have been many different reasons given as to why and how you get it, but not much I could find on what to do about it, or whether the crop will be edible.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to advice on the garden organic site
I wouldn't want to eat the berries if they actually develop the rust, but it usually stays on the leaves........and you can remove those.

Other than that it would be fungicide spray, like Dithane or Bordeaux mixture I suppose

ps welcome to the site :)
