My plot is getting covered with leaves and seeds!
« on: September 02, 2007, 19:12 »
The reality of having a plot next to the trees is becoming evident - it is getting covered in leaves and seeds. They are big trees so there is a lot more to come  I wondered if those machines that suck up leaves would be any good or would it just suck up the soil as well? (I saw an old Gardener's world and Alan Titchmarsh was saying how good they were)

If it is a problem for you. I'd go the other way - use a leaf blower.

If you leave them long enough they will disappear as the earthworms pull them under. Bit lazy tho'

I have exactly the same problem. I have been raking some of them off and putting them in the compost bin, and will leave the rest.
Does look untidy though

One of the trees is a Sycamore. Not sure of the other one -it has Beech type leaves and  little round seeds in pairs on stalks. If I dig them in won't I be pulling out little trees next year? I had that problem in my garden at home with my neighbour's Mountain Ash.
