How about putting up a couple of posts with wire across the top like a raspberry frame? You can run strings up and down to the wire.
On one of my previous plots the previous tenant had used the chain link fence. :D
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

I usually use the wigwam method, but last year I stood all the canes upright, either side of the path like someone on here does, then put some black tubing over half a dozen of them making an archway and tied a couple of canes front to back.  Looked a bit messy until the beans grew up and over it.

What an interesting idea.... 8)

I'm still fussing over getting a new munty style bean-frame in place. I've dug the trench, filled with compost, covered and marked it ready but not got building yet. I have a few old scaffolding-poles and lots of canes...

As I have a plot and another half right next-door there's a grass path-way between the two (site regulation size). Growing the beans over this path would save space and I can't see anyone objecting if I grew beans over the path between my two plots - no one else much uses this path....

I could have a double-sided munty frame (arch style) and wander up and down underneath. I wonder???

Daft idea?

Not at all daft  :) I think it will work rather well and give you a nice little shady walk too, picking beabs hanging conveniently just above your head .... or somehting like that   :nowink:

Thanks-- I'm going to enjoy standing about "thinking" and making up my mind over the week-end. Don't like to rush important decisions when I have time to ruminate.  ;)

Anyone tried using and old bike wheel on the top of a post and stringing string down into a wigwam for runners ?? I've seen it done but never tried it.

An old bike wheel, Sir, should be on an old bike!!

I know 'cause I have one or two.

But it sounds a novel, even artistic, suggestion though... ;)

I now have this vision of someone cycling gently sideways over a column of runners. Thank you for this

I just have a vision of the plot old boys holding their sides and looking at me like my head fell off! Good idea though!

Whereas the vision I had was of a maypole-type contraption, you use the tall bean plants to weave the pretty designs - purple flower, red flower, white flower ...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I think you are thinking of one of those wonderful Kenwood Chef attachments... it slices beans when the little wheels whiz round.
