don't know if it will be of interest but bbc have an article about the vegetable gardeners of Havana sorry I can't work out how to post the link but it is easy to find on bbc web site if you search Cuba :)

This is interesting but I couldn't get past question 7.
 I haven't completed the survey though because I'm not sure where I fit in really.  I live in what is called a town but in reality it's a very small village in the middle of the country so it's definitely not an urban environment.  But it's really difficult to grow stuff in the country unless you own land, smallholding or big garden.  Most of the cottages here have tiny gardens & there's no access to allotment space except in the neighbouring towns 10 & 20 miles away respectively & of course long, long waiting lists.  But good luck with the diss anyway.
