just a quick hello from a horticultural virgin. my friends are fed up with the windowsills being full of mini propagators  so i went to the council on thursday and rented an allotment, on friday i dug over one area and made another (little) bit ready to put something in the ground. the soil seems really nice and easilly diggable with no clay. the plot has been unused for 2 years and i have chosen a plot with unused plots either side of me and the nicest allotment i have ever seen at one end (got to be good for advice i reckon) and a water tap just next to my plot. i love it and i am really excited on monday i am going to plant peas. well i'll be back to let you know how it goes.

Soft soil, easy to dig over, sowing your peas tomorrow.
Here it's a two man job to lift a spade of clay and it's snowing as I write. Am I jealous? You bet!
