growing gherkins
« on: May 06, 2011, 15:05 »
Hi

I am growing gherkins for the first time. Are they best in greenhouse or outside. On the packet it said to remove all male flowers if growing inside. How do I tell male from female plants.

the female flowers have a baby gherkin/cuke behind the flower the males ones just have a stalk.

It is unusual to remove the flowers from gherkins, they usually need pollination.
What variety is it?
