It's clear from the above post, back in August that Lordthanatos has considered himself in the competition for at the past two months, would it be fair to fault him for not literally asking or saying:
"Can you please put my name down?" because for me at least, that's evidence enough that his entry is more than valid.

Sorry but im with spartacat on this one.
I think that someone has done a really good job in getting one this size and feel that not being aloud in could be quite discouraging in a major way for them and their child  :nowink:

He posted back in August, why didn't a Mod tell him he needed to put his name down?
I feel there has been a mistake from both the Mods and the member.

I personally think the decision should be overturned, just my opinion but i would like to hear what others think about it!

I think it's a pumpkin competition, on a website.
There will be another one next year probably.
Just judge the ones who entered at the beginning and admire the other fine ones.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Exactly, so why can't he be aloud in?

Possibly so, but how would you feel if you grew a fab one this year thinking you may win, only to be told what he has, a simple genuine mistake that in my opinion would be overlooked if it wasn't so big  ;)

I don't think anybody would grow a big pumpkin 'because they thought they might win' this competition  ;) We grow them for personal satisfaction, surely.

When I took on this competition it was supposed to be a bit of fun between friends, with no prize!....and very little in the way of rules, apparently ::)

So to restore harmony ...............anybody that has already posted on this thread will be included in the judging. as long as they have made enough posts to qualify.
(If the competition is run next year.........the rules will be made plain at the outset)

My Atlantic Giant weighed in at 33Kg's and 56 inches circumference. Alas no picture as the neighbours I gave it to have already started eating it ::) ::)
I did get a lot of enjoyment in giving it to them, as I know they are vegetarians and that they would put it to good use!

Mine is 64 inches.

Not the biggest - but not bad for a first effort

It's obviously not been a good year for pumpkin growing with very few posted results  :(

So Well done to lordthanatos for a whopping 82 inch winner

Squibbs was 2nd with 64 ins

and teasmade 3rd with 61ins.

The prettiest pumpkin prize goes to DD. simply because I like a nice harvest festival display  ;)

Roll on next year  :D

WoW 2nd - I am surprised - for an Atlantic giant its not all that big, though a lot larger than the pumpkin on the sister plant (the little one in the barrow)

Hopefully next year we shall all be bigger and better
