bleuurgh - aphids on rose??
« on: June 06, 2007, 19:50 »
just been checking over the garden and found a rosebud just about to flower, but covered, absolutely covered, in little green aphids.

What shall I do??
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Organic or non-organic?

Organic - have a look at this thread....

Non - organic - numerous sprays you can buy off the shelf.

You can of course do as I do & squish them with your fingers.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Squish em with your fingers, spray with a pesticide, or spray with an organic alternative, garlic in water sprayed seems to be a favourite.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

This is quit a good organic method for blackfly.  Never tried it myself as I prefer nasty sprays

Take some small pieces of cheese (organic I suppose) and push them onto the rose prickles.  Birds will come for a cheesey horses duvers and have black fly for main course.

woah - thanks everyone!
just went out with a bit of kitchen roll and squished the little sods.
that seems the most organic solution!

 :D

If they return I shall try out the various other suggestions!!!

Thanks!!!!
