Chilli plant...
« on: June 04, 2007, 14:19 »
I have a chilli plant and I'm not sure how to treat it, should i do the same as i do with tomatoes and pinch new leaf growth off to channel growing energy into the chillies?

Thanks :)

No!! :)   Remove the centre shoot...just at the top to encourage the side shoots to branch out ....to get more flowers....to get more chillies :)

i always let my chillies and sweet peppers do their own thing - they are outside - unprotected - and left to fend for themselves - i had so many fruit last - i struggled to give em away - but wow - the chillies were hot hot hot!

After getting worried about mine I followed a tip from here (or possibly elsewhere) about fertilising them myself by rubbing my finger on the flower to get it covered with pollen and then rubbing it around other flowers on the neighbouring plants. I now have a couple of chillis well on the way and quite a few others coming. I've not cut the plant at the top or anything. They've just grown.
