Wallflowers

I've got a patch at the allotment that I'm using to grow on my wallflowers before they're planted back home with the tulip bulbs - they're doing OK but not thriving quite as well as I'd hoped. Should I feed them with anything to give them a boost or leave them be? (I've nipped the centres out to bush them up) Thank you.

Do you have club root problems on the plot - I have a very distant, possibly incorrect memory, that wallflowers might be in the brassica family?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hi Tode, yes, they get the sun almost all day - I have to say that although it seemed like it rained forever last month, I'm beginning to wonder if there wasn't as much as I thought and perhaps they've gone short on the old water - the plants just look a bit sad!

Yorkie, I took the plot on last October so I can't categorically say one way or other about clubroot but the connection rings a bell with me too - I'll ask my plot neighbour as he may well know.

The place they grow best for me is in a gravel path, at the foot of a stone wall: very dry conditions, but full sun in the morning.
Could you post a pic ?

Tode, am worse than useless with a camera but have given them loads of water and a smidgeon of Miracle Gro and they're looking heaps better!

Good news  :D
I like wallflowers. Very cheerful flowers, and nice scent, as well.

Yes - I'm sure they are in the brassica family. I have grown mine in modules then planted out in autumn with the tops pinched out as you have done. Occasional ones do suddenly go sad but most look ok then really get going in spring. Mine are planted in areas that are under deciduous trees facing north so are sort of in semi-shade but they do fine.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
