Does anyone know a good web site to identify insects?.  I have an investation of little green catapillars eating some Aquilegia which has been gowing in my garden for 10 years and has never been eaten like this before.   :?: I was wondering what sort of butterfly they would turn out to be - If they are lucky coz' I'm not happy about them

Hi Lulu any luck with your caterpillar problem, I've just found two of my plants stripped bare by little green caterpillars    gonna get the tumble bug on 'em.

the web site Aunt Sally gave was informative but vague, didn't have pictures for me to compare my little green caterpillars with so i couldn't really identify them.   They stripped 2 aquilegia and seemed to have disappeared. They did not spread to other plants which was what I was worried about.  I put some in the compost bin to take their chance in there.  Not very helpful sorry

There's lots of pictures of caterpillars in the gallery here

There's some in this website too, this one is better for identifying butterflies, but some of the individual butterflies also have caterpillars in toohere
