Oh god, Ive put in all the bulbs in my garden, tulips daffs , etc........... and I've done it all wrong.I gave them the right depth , put in a nice bit of grit ,carefully placed the bulbs upright , a layer of good compost and then the topsoil. I suppose all those nice wriggly worms are just going to eat my fat bulbs.I put more grit on top to indicate where the bulbs were.
Should I dig them all up and start again?

That's how i do mine too Karl, and they usually grow, what's with all the grit then?

Actually this year, OH went round a big area on the so called lawn, dug in the fork and wiggled it about a bit, then I put a bulb in each fork hole.  He kept doing this in 2 big circles, and when they grew, it was like having 2 big yellow catherine wheels in the grass!!  then once they all died down, he just mows over them.

I too just dig a hole and throw them in and the worms leave mine alone.

However , planting goes something like this.   I plant them, the squirrels dig them up, I chase the squirrel and then re-plant them and by the end autumn its open warfare between the damn squirrels and me...... seriously wondering about shooting a few, but dont think the neighbours would like it
Starting from scratch............
