Last night's space debris or meteor
« on: August 04, 2018, 09:36 »
Did anyone else see the burn up in the atmosphere last night at a minute or so past midnight. It was quite a sight, very bright with accompanying, almost smoke like trail.
It lasted a second or so.
We're in N.E. Hants
It was travelling sort of S. to N.E.
We were outside enjoying a glass of wine, peering up at the sky, as you do, saw a couple of "ordinary" shooting stars as well.

I saw one just after sunset heading East.  A very short lived meteor, and yes, I did wish a wish!

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Annual Perseids meteor shower under way. Peaks at the weekend.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I might have a look out over the weekend although I don't think the weather is going to be that favourable down south.
I've seen a few over the years but this particular one was almost definitely in our atmosphere, it just felt really close and was a bright orange, it made me go "wow did you see that" as opposed to the usual "ooow, shooting star"
I seem to be the only person in the universe that saw it.

There are a lot of fireballs associated with this shower and was probably one of those!

Ah, OK, I didn't know that, I assumed they were all far out in space. Thanks.
