Im planning on buying my first polytunnel at the end of the month (3x6 meters).
I’ve read that a lot of polytunnel owners build a separate wooden base for their tunnels to help secure it, as I live on the top of a hill and it can get very windy I think this is the way to go.
Has anyone on here done this ‘mod’ to their store bought or home made tunnels?
If you know of any articles or could share your own experiences (preferably with a picture or two) id be very grateful.

No wooden base, but we do have a very windy site, so I can suggest:

- securing the frame well to the ground  by cable tying the "legs" to either fence pins or corkscrew dog ties at least 40-50 cm into the ground

- trenching in the cover, not relying on slabs or scaffold planks around the edge

- ensuring that the cover is as taught as possible

- installing hot spot tape on the arches of the frame to reduce friction in the wind (also reduces overheating in the Summer of course)

- if the door allows wind to blow into the tunnel, ensure vents are left open to the cover does not "balloon"

Due to the ongoing Avian Flu issue Ive had to get a smaller Poly Tunnel to tie me over (2*3m) as I cant move my ladies to there new free range paddock.
It arrived on Saturday and im hoping to put it up later this week or the weekend if works busy

Any last minute tips for putting up my first Poly Tunnel?

Well, its been a productive day all in all, the new 'phase 1' of polytunneling (is that a word?) is a gogo.
It only took me and the wife 2 and a half hours to put together which is a miracle considering there were NO instructions!

Yes, the hedge you can see in the back is the northern end of my garden

This polytunnel is possible the worst investment ive ever made.... It blew away in the storm and has smashed into my neighbours car and house..... This is going to cost me a small fortune.....
