Compost/Manure bargains?
« on: October 05, 2015, 15:46 »
Anyone seen any great deals on composts or manures anywhere?
Around this time last year Wickes had a deal on the gro sure stable manure, 2.99 each, buy 2 get a 3rd free.
I've not seen any decent offers as of yet.  Hoping to get a load more of the manure, and with any luck somewhere that sells clover compost at a reasonable price/on offer.
This is my Allotment, There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without my Allotment I am nothing, without me, my Allotment is nothing

The only offer I've seen seems to be B&Q (Verve manure 50L for £4.25p each, 3 for £10)

Wickes have seasonal trends (as I found to my cost when buying some top soil this time last year) so when the garden stuff is sold out, they don't stock it again until spring - perhaps they have an end of season deal just to get rid of the last of the remaining manure?

I will only use Jacks Magic.. £4 a 6o lt bag from my local garden centre. I always buy it the late summer early autumn as what you buy in the spring has usually been stored outside and gets very heavy with rain and snow.

Thanks for the replies folks, I see wickes now has some offers on.  Not amazing deals, just stuff like 3 bags of manure for £10.

I have used a local place before, I had a trailer full and spread it all over my allotment... it turned out to be full of weed seed.  It took me ages to deal with the weeds that came from it.  Buying it you at least know it's been composted properly and wont be any weed seed in it.
