Title: Hen house
Post by: alexroyall85 on December 28, 2017, 18:23
Evening all

Having problems getting half of my hens to accept a new house. Their old one was falling apart so I dismantled it and erected a new one.
I have been having to put them in it every night for about a week. Any ideas on how to achieve this?
Many thanks
Alex

Can you shut them in there for a few days with food & water? They should then recognise it as home

Assuming it is not because there are to many hens for the size of the coop then try this

Thanks all

It was sitting up high with a ramp. I thought they might not know how to use a ramp so I have put it on the floor without one.
As soon as I have done this they showed an interest straight away. Here’s hoping it does the trick

Once using normally you could perhaps raise it gradually.  :)

My coop is 3ft off the ground and has a ramp just under 6ft and is about 9" wide
