Wooden Wormbins

Hi Folks

I'm after a bit of info if anyone can help. After a bit of thought I've worked out how to build a stacking wormery in timber, now my question is this.

Can I put a preservative on the timber which won't affect the worms or the compost or is it best left au natural?

I'm not so sure of the organic creditials of most of the proprietry wood treatments available.

I would imagine it would be best not to preserve the wood, unless you buy an organic wood preserver (Wyevale sell it) for wormery's.. was looking at it today funny enough lol but it aint cheap (think it was about £15 for a 2.5 ltr tin

Thanks Phoenix, True not cheap but compared to the cost of a commercieal wooden bin it's reasonable 2.5 litres will do 2 or bins at least.

That must be a big greenhouse Phoenix, what do you use it for? I have an 8X6 at home for seed raising and toms. Not really big enough for anything else. But yipee going to put a 12X8 poly-tunnel on the allotment then the fun starts.

Cheers
