Sneezing?
« on: July 21, 2008, 19:06 »
Hello!

My four lovely ex batts seem to be doing well, but one (despite roaming happily and eating like the others) seems to be "sneezing" as silly as that sounds.

I clear out their poo every day and do a clean out once a week with some mild pet safe disinfectant. I have been using the red mite dust once every coupld of weeks just on the pearches for good measure...really not sure whats brought this on. Its quite regular but she seems in good health otherwise (no runny nose etc)...any ideas are greatfuly recieved :)

You must be the third person in the last week or so who's had a sneezing hen with no other symptoms.

I was looking through some old posts and there were similar ones. One suggestion was hayfever, or least pollen/seeds getting into the nasal passages and irritating.

Could be just that with this bit of sun (assuming you have this sun!).

Sneezing is often brought on by stress...............so just keep an eye on her and if it gets worse or the others start speak to a vet.

Fingers crossed she will be ok.

Thank you so much for your kind reply's. Sadly she died earlier today, vet advised it may have been heart failure as she began to struggle to breathe and became very lethargic :( she died just after laying her last egg...least she had just over a month of a completely free range life. Thank you x

Sorry to hear that chickpea. Really illustrates the hard working life they have to lead.  :(

Well done for what you've acheived.
