Hi,

Can anybody help me on how work out how much netting I would require for a fruit cage/  It is 3.2 m wide 3.1m long and 2.2 m high.  Thanks

You have:

2 ends each 3.1m x 2.2m = 13.64m²

2 sides each 3.2m x 2.2m = 14.08m²

1 top 3.2m x 3.1m = 9.92m²

Total = 37.64m²

Might be easier to find out the size of the netting you want to buy, as it's usually sold in set widths whaich you buy by the metre

I reckon you'll need 13.9m plus a bit for overlaps of something at least 3.2m wide - which could be 4m.

Just collect lots and lots of holes then tie them together with plastic string until you have enough!    Cheers,     Tony.

Width: 3.1 + 2.2 +2.2 = 7.5mtrs
Length: 3.2 + 2.2 + 2.2 = 7.6mtrs

I'd go for 8x8mtr netting just so you've got an overlap to fix to the ground.  I use tent pegs for the fruit cage.
