A bitter sweet day
« on: August 18, 2010, 16:29 »
I lost 1 of my Cherry valley ducks this morning, My daughter found her dead down the bottom of the garden  :( No signs of anything untowards, She had her eyes wide open and was fine when I let them out this morning at 7am.

On a plus note my silkie cross has just hatched her very first chick, A cream legbar. 2 more chicks chirping within their shells and pipping nicely, So a very bitter sweet day for me

Thanks  :) 1st chick turned out to be a  black araucana, Thought it was too dark to be a legbar  2nd chick hatched fine, defo a cream legbar but not sure of sex yet, It was a bit too dark outside when I cheked on it. Im not holding out much hope for the 3rd, although I maybe wrong but it doesnt seem to have the strenght to get itself out of the shell

Sorry about your duck  :(  Always hard when it happens so unexpectedly like that.

Any news on the 3rd egg/chick?  Hope it found its way out eventually. Well done Silkie  :)
