Kiwi plants

I have two kiwis that I think must be on there fourth year if not more.
When do they flower as it hasn't to date. Will they ever fruit or is it just a great shade plant.
They are probably now 12 to 15 foot from root to end. They are growing up and over a very long extended arch. Can't think what else to call it. Hubby made it.

About three to four years after planting they should fruit. Unless you have bought a self fertile cultivar you will need a male and a female, the males don't fruit. Not sure on flowering time sorry.

I think it said self fertile but didn't need another, we got two anyway.

Stupid question but how do I know if they are male or female lol that sounds so wrong. I could really be taken for a ride with this answer.  ::) no I am not going looking for any weee's willy winkies.

It's a serious and stupid question. Lol

Wait until it drops some leaves. If it doesn't pick them up again, you know its male. :D

If they were self fertile then they are both female BQ  ;)

They should flower in June if they are old enough.

Have you pruned them every year? They fruit on spurs in the same way as most apple trees that folk have, and pruning helps these establish

Hope that helps

Well blow me over

It's horrific wind here and I just glanced over at the kiwi extended archway and it looks like I can see flower buds. Obviously heard me moaning. I will climb up later it's 10 foot high and have a look.

What colour will the flowers be if indeed it is flowers
