Rhubarb With Stunted Growth
« on: May 16, 2012, 09:59 »
Hi everyone,  on my plot I have several Rhubarb plants of various varieties, all accept one have stunted growth patterns.  The plants have been in about 5 years, the one which matches the other plants on the site is in open ground, the others are in small beds surrounded by meadow grass.  Speaking to my neighbour plot holder said he was not surprised as apple tree growers grass up to the trunk to restrict tree growth - an old trick to make the trees easy to pick.  He thought the meadow grass in close proximity to the Rhubarb was doing the same.  I have never heard of this, can anyone on here verify this fact that meadow grass restricts growth?
