Anyone growing something new this year? I'm growing chilli peppers and aubergine for the first time and I sowed purple sprouting broccoli and cabbage for the first time last week.

My first year too, so everything is new except tomatoes - which all got blight/botrytis last year and failed miserably. So, first time for all the following:

Spuds (7 varieties), onions, garlic, chives, basil, coriander, summer savory, marjoram, oregano, parsnips, carrots (4 varieties), beetroot, summer sprouting brocolli, early purple sprouting brocolli, romanesco, radish, mixed lettuce leaves/rocket, sweetcorn, cucumbers, courgettes, butternut squash, pumpkins, sugar snap peas, dwarf green beans, runner beans, raspberries and strawberries.

Phew! Also trying again with those toms and am raising various perennial and half-hardy annual flowery things from seeds and giving dahlias a go  :tongue2:

'Exploding Cucumber'  - never heard of it so I just looked it up....

found these comments:

HEALTH WARNING.
DANGER OF EYE INJURY! HARD SEED IS EJECTED AT GREAT SPEED.
DO NOT HOLD RIPE FRUIT NEAR FACE.
HARVEST FRUIT AFTER IT HAS OPENED.
DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY WITH FRUIT.

We know this sounds silly, but it is a real danger and we must recommend that
YOU SHOULD WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHILE HARVESTING AND PROCESSING FRUIT.
