20mm vs 25mm

Has anybody tried 20mm pipe as opposed to 25mm? Just wondering if it's stiff enough (the internal diameter would fit better with the metal rods I have lots of to secure the base).
Cheers!

For small brassica hoops 20 mm should be fine. :) See this thread and others for more info:

I use the narrower piping in mine with bamboo cane or bits of a broken garden arch, which just seems to fit nicely. They are a bit bendy and don't look as neat as the blue pipe, but works okay for bird netting.

I hammer in 1ft lengths of 50mm pipe and drop in the 25mm hoops. This means that I can move them around my plot as required.

When we got our allotment, the site had recently had all the water pipes replaced for the new blue plastic stuff, so there was loads of this pipe about and the previous tenant had it all over the plot. I push short pieces of cane into the ground the then drop the pipe over it, to hold it in place. Seems to do the trick for me.
Acquired a third of a plot in January 2011 which was extended to three quarters in December 2011. Managed by myself and my 6 year old son.
