my first ever aubergine!

It does feel like quite a triumph when you actually produce one doesn't it.  Well done you  :D

Thanks! And it was delicious too :D

We discovered that the strange looking squashes that we found growing on the rains of the new plot's compost heap were actually melons   So we came home with 5 small but well formed melons, a big bag of carrots, sweetcorn, raspberries, a couple of apples and the last pear.
Two plots with The Leicester Permanent Society - still learning.

Pumpkins today. Plants have started to die off, so all fruit removed and left to ripen/harden for storage. No really big nes this year as planted late, but a good number of medium sized ones to use over the winter.

Potatoes tomorrow!

Yesterday I picked what must be the last bag of tomatoes from the plants on the plot.  I was expecting the worst, but the plants were fine, if a bit tired looking, and laden again. The plot pants have been sooooo productive this year (Ferline and Crimson Crush). A lot of the fruit are green, but I've laid them out on trays to ripen.

Also brought home a cabbage and some Lazy Housewife beans, plus picked a load of Trinidad Perfume peppers from the greenhouse at home, plus the last Lipstick pepper.

I discovered the quinces were ready to drop off the tree yesterday, so got picking quick.  I have already made jelly and have quince brandy on the go, but this lot are still left and a few on the tree still ripening.  Great crop this year  :)

Almost the last of the toms, a few carrots and a small cabbage.

Plot looking a bit bare now with lots of tidying up left - I really must try and grow more things year around :)

Dug up the purple carrots as I noticed the slugs were starting to become very interested in them. Definitely sweeter for having had a frost. Tougher than normal carrots when raw and harder to peel, but the flavour is pretty good.
