What can I put in my greenhouse now?

Hi all,
I've just purchased a minature greenhouse and want to get the best out of it for this year. I know its late in the year but I was thinking of putting some leeks in and hoping for small leeks later in the year? Is it too late to try some chillis / tomatoes? Any other ideas? thanks. Ian

You don't really need a greenhouse for growing leeks, although you could start them in there as it is still so cold outside :) Once germinated move them outside to grow on for the winter.
Bit too late now, I think to sow tomatoes or chillies, but once this cold snap is over I would buy in plants and grow them on...lovely. :D

Thanks. The idea with the leeks was to use the greenhouse to catch up a bit though not sure if this will work. I think a friend of mine is hopefully going to give me a few of his spare chilli plants and tomatos will have to wait till next year. Anyone got any more ideas for this year?

You could sow some outdoor cucumbers and maybe start them off in pots in your plastic growhouse and then plant them out when the weather's better. Chillies and toms are too late now but there are still other things you could sow now. I only sowed my beans, pumpkins and courgettes yesterday, and two lots of cues.  Salad leaf mixes are good in seed trays in the greenhouse.  You could sow a row in the tray every other week so you always have some leaves to pick (cut and come again)  I put mine in a normal sized seed tray with a gravel tray underneath so I can water them from the bottom.

Tomato plants available in the Garden Centre I expect? and quite probably folk locally will have grown a few too many ...
