now getting thin shelled eggs
« on: April 05, 2012, 14:11 »
Hi everyone.

I posted on here a while ago about Evie laying soft shell eggs.
I took the advice and have given her yoghurt and cheese, crushed eggshells (baked) and mixed with feed. All this on top of giving her oyster shells.
Also got some lime flour.
She's now laying small eggs with thin shells. the yolk in them is normal size but the white is only a thin layer round this. T
hey taste OK. Gave one to my husband!!
Any idea why she's laying like this?
She is an ex-bat but is now nearly feathered and full of life! she's changed into a beautiful, properly proportioned hen instead of the skinny grey coloured waif we got in October.
Is this normal in a battery hen?
Thank you for any advise you can give.
