Title: Microwave plate warmers...
Post by: Growster... on January 04, 2019, 06:11
We usually have these on the go for about 1min 40 secs, but as they're quite small, the outsides of the plates don't get very warm.

Just looking at other ways, I saw that all you need to do is pop the plates in the microwave, with a cup of water on top. Fascinating idea!

Does anyone else do this?

We put stacks of dinner plates in our micro, they warm up without anything else in there. On high for 1- 1 1/2 mins for 2 plates. Never had more than 12 in there.

Yes, strangely enough plates will warm in there without any help. It sounds odd but does work.

Yes, I warm my plates in the microwave too.  Just stack them up.  I have found that my new set of plates get much hotter than my old ones.  They must be made of slightly different material, but it still works fine.

Thanks all!

Our microwave is the most complicated bit of kit we've ever had - it was originally Mrs Growster's Mum's, and when we all went to choose it, we picked up the wrong one before we realised when we got home, so it's our fault really!

The instructions are just dire - it's a Belling Super Apollo Spaceship with matching armaments, atomic reactor, fast murder and automatic hospitalisation procedures, and we have read the instructions about three hundred times, and they get worse!

The water-in-a-cup did start to work, but not as much as we wanted (superheated to 3,000 degrees Celsius), so we'll give it a bit longer next time!
