Good Afternoon,

I am interested in growing lavender for putting into soap, and pomanders etc. Could anybody tell me which are the best varieties of lavender to grow for this purpose. There so many different ones out there I just dont know where to start.

I would say that english lavender has the best perfume.

Munstead is the typical lavender that grows here but the Provence type smells the best in my books. But its not too hardy here so I must give it winter protection. You really need to check your area for types before choosing, and whether you've the time to give it for protection, etc.
