Butts and soaker hoses
« on: May 05, 2007, 21:19 »
With this dry weather the trips back and forth to the water trough to fill watering cans is getting  a bit much!

I want to set up a water butt on my plot with perhaps soaker/seeping hoses running round my important veg.

has anyone ever tried this please and what is best size butt to go for for this?

I'm going to give this a go but I'm a bit delayed owing to my butts being empty and the 99p shop failing to have soaker hoses this year, but I'll still try.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Do you need any kind of water pressure to make the hose work properly ?

Thought of something extremely rude to say about soaker hoses, but probably best left unsaid.  Anyhoo, better not hijack this thread like the one last night.

Well yes, I agree.  Actually, a cushion can come in handy when experiencing roid rage, as one does at my age.  No, not steroid, haemorrhoid.

there's me thinking I'd have loads of sesible response!  No such luck... would anyone care to offer advice on their 'butt & hose' arrangement?
