hi all I recently purchased a polytunnel half way through the growing season last year as this is my first full year with my tunnel .I would be very grateful if anyone could give me information regarding my two polytunnel doors at the moment I have half covered with mesh and the half with polytunnel covering, with the up and coming growing season should I cover all the doors with plastic covering or would this cause problems with ventilation.Iam thinking that this might increase temperature inside to sow seeds etc and also when can you start actually start sowing seeds any help would be gratefully appreciated

Personally I'd cover the whole door with plastic to aid heat retention at night, especially in Spring in Autumn. In the Summer I leave my doors open 24/7 as it gets pretty hot in there oterwise. Also leaving the doors open helps polinators get into the tunnel to do their thing.

Mine is the same, I just tape up some plastic over the mesh in the winter/early &a mid spring to keep the temp up for seed sowing then take it back down again for late spring/early summer and autumn. During mid to late summer I keep the door open 24/7.

thanks for the advice covering the mesh part of the doors will be a good idea with tape and then it can be easily taken off

great advice regarding covering the doors just returned from my allotment and the temperature inside was about 68 degrees just shows you how a little heat can warm them up so quickly
