Title: Hello from Worcester
Post by: Carol64 on September 07, 2015, 08:34
Hi, I've just agreed to take on my first allotment, and I'm waiting to sign the contract. I'm a keen gardener, and in the last few years I've grown a few veg (potatoes and tomatoes in tubs and runner beans and courgettes in amongst the borders this year) but basically it's all new to me, and I'm really nervous as well as excited.

The allotment is 10m by 10m, on a new site so I'm not inheriting any plants or infrastructure at all, but hopefully no pests or  blights either.  The plot has been rotavated, and they will rotavate it once more, then it's over to me! I guess that will still leave a lot of chopped up roots, although at least we're not in mad growing season now and it will save me a lot of work. I've got a rough idea of how  I want to lay it out, but I've never done anything like building beds (I want them slightly raised, probably edged by wooden planks), or other infrastructure before and I'm hoping for a lot of help from my OH!
