Have I done the right thing?
« on: April 14, 2010, 12:01 »
Hello, I planted my runner bean seeds in soaked peat pots and have put them in polythene bags with a zip top, and popped them on the windowsill.  Looking at them today there seems to be an awful lot of water in the bags.  Is this ok or should I remove them from the bags?  I have also put my cucumbers which are in 5" plastic pots in these bags and the same thing is happening. Mandy.

Unzip the bags and let the water evaporate a bit. The peat pots hold a lot of water - the compost should just be moist, not soaking, to avoid rot.
You probably don't really need the bags at all if they are inside the house.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
