Success at Last!
« on: September 02, 2018, 09:09 »
We entered our local Show yesterday, and our produce and flowers did us proud. We won the overall President's Cup for the most points overall in the vegetable, fruit and flower classes, as well as the Preserves Cup. Who would ever have guessed Pesto and Apple & Lavender Jelly would go down a storm with the judges, alongside our slightly more traditional entries!!

Thanks to those lovely Globo onions we won both classes for large onions and... the TopTray!!!! Tried so hard with this over the years, and always either messed up by putting on the wrong number of tomatoes, using a veg not on the list, sitting onion on display rings (not to be used on the tray!) and others just having better specimens of produce than us. so Hurray for the Top Tray 2018!!

Thank you Snowy... no quick fix, is there? Been a bit of a slog this year with so much to just keep alive never mind produce anything edible, so sitting here this morning just chilling for an hour...before setting off the water the tunnels once more

Congratulations - no mean feat given this year's trying weather conditions.

Thank you Rowland. There were actually more entries than ever this year despite the weather thrown at us. It is more about celebrating what we have grown and enjoying seeing it displayed at its best on the benches than the winning, but yes, it is great to have your produce judged as the best on the day  :D :D

We're eating those spuds tonight with our roast dinner

Well done that Gal!

As seen above, it's been such an odd year, I'm amazed that anyone could do such success!

But you're worth it, and you did.;0)

OH that's sweet of you Growster, thank you  :D :D Back to normality again now though, with the tomato mountain building up again and a huge box of apples lurking in the wings now too. Preserves-R-Us
