Oops I’ve got ........coming out of my ears
« on: May 13, 2018, 10:27 »
Tomatoes in my case (so far). As I was potting them on the other day I decided to have a count up, 200 😱 rather too many for a 8x10 greenhouse even if I planted into the borders(which I don’t) don’t you think?
So what about you, what have you ended up with too many of?
P.s I’ve only just sown the squash this week so I might be adding to my own list soon lol

200 tomato plants... that's a lot of soup! 😆

So far the germination on my kale seeds has been incredible (the whole tray is green, I swear I only sprinkled a few!) so we might be looking for lots of kale recipes later in the season!

Haha I won’t be keeping them all, just haven’t got the room or can afford the compost. At least with your kale you could eat it as micro greens

Greek Gigantes beans - you only need half a dozen plants for a huge crop and we're still getting more poking through - 12 at the last count!

Meant to say that Mrs Growster has instructed me to grow less toms this year, so we're restricted to about 55..:0(

Mine are beans as well.  I was late sowing them and I think some form of bean seed withdrawal syndrome was affecting me

In any case I had a greenhouse shift round yesterday and put them all in one place - suddenly it seems an awful lot

I grow all my toms out doors so will probably do about 50 plants . I grow lots of plum toms for bottling and the others are a mix to give variety for salads... we are having a mare of a spring this year so I am well behind normal... they are not even in the ground yet ! However the weather will come good soon, I hope, and we will get plenty of sweet toms... just a bit later.

Redcurrants ... dripping off the bushes!

Went to the plot to net mine yesterday and....they'd all gone! Blackcurrants and gooseberries safely tucked up! Not much point netting the strawberries as the mice get 'em. 3rd summer on this plot and I still haven't managed to pick a fully ripe one yet!

Anyway, currently harvesting plenty of lettuce, spring onions and radishes but not much else yet.

Chard! Harvested around 2kg this week and only a few of the plants have bolted. 2nd sowing is in modules to replace current plants and I'm planning on overwintering some in the tunnel....

Mangetout and French Beans! First time I've grown both and I've learnt that I should probably stagger the sowing! We have far more than we can eat.
