Any help please. Why do potatoes go mushy when boiled, and how can I prevent it

Some potatoes are better as jackets, roasted or steamed, depends on variety. I have an old Alan Romans booklet  that describes them all & their susceptibilities to pests,diseases, dry matter etc. Might be worth looking for a copy or something similar so that you can make an informed choice when buying seed.😊 Hope that helps

As already stated it depends a lot on the variety. I grow floury potatoes and always steam, roast or bake them..
I haven't boiled a potato for years.
What variety are you cooking?
