Table top design for strawberries in planters
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:14 »
My strawbs were supposed to be planted in a raised bed but were delayed due to re-emerging couch grass. They have done really well in pots and no snail or slug damage so am now going to re-plant them in deep plant troughs. I need to stand the troughs on something and remember seeing a wooden table-like construction and found one on the Harrod's gardening website at £55. It's made of softwood but I can put preservative on to extend its life. Considering the price of wood and me having to build it, am I better buying one at that price?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Personally I would consider making it out of pallet wood, and giving that a coat or two or preservative  :)
