Title: Fallen stock/farm waste disposal - incineration??
Post by: JamesFarmFood on January 08, 2013, 09:25
Hi,  :tongue2:
Does any one have a recommendation for incinerators? We are paying a fortune for another company to dispose of our chicken waste/fall does anyone have any recommendations?

I know our local poultry farmers all use another company to come in and remove the waste they only seem to incinerate dead animals.

I believe you would at a minimum, need to obtain DEFRA approval as a "processing plant" if you proposed to carry out you own incineration, as fallen stock and dead pets are counted as animal by-product.

This might well be more trouble than it is worth.

Yes sorry I should have said, we have already obtained a DEFRA grant for this (and other things). The next stage for us
is selecting a machine, we looking for something relatively small like this:

I've picked out this one and discribed as a thermally effience incinerator and I want to keep running costs as low as possible
but would be interested to see what other people have got / what else is out there.

I don't think many people on will know much about that as this site is purely for amateur gardeners and smallholders - not for farming business professionals.  We do not allow the forums to be used for ANY business purposes.

It may be a good idea if you can get to the Pig and Poultry Fair at Stoneleigh this May.  You can get tickets free, and they usually have incinerator companies there.
