patch no matter how much I take the grass out it still keeps coming back how can I stop for once and for all

What fruit are you growing in the patch?

If you don't mind spraying, glyphosate it, once or twice should get rid, or cover it with cardboard, then membrane & mulch it with bark

This i why i was asking whats in the patch, if it's just bushes and trees, then cardboard and straw does a really good job and last about 2 years then you just compost the straw and do the same again.
If its strawberrys then a little more care needs to be taken and a good quality weed membrane is best and chipped bark.

Grass is getting a pain for me too. I've laid down black plastic between the rows so far. I'm hoping to pick up woodchip or straw to cover soon. Hope the plastic doesn't offer a safe haven for the slugs. Time will tell.
