Hi Folks - Mrs.Novice has been nagging for a wisteria for years....and now we've got one....

Question is, how close can we plant it to the house ? As I know they get quite big and I shouldn't want to have any long term foundation disturbance

They are usually grown up building walls so I would think they cause no problem.

My mum has had one for more than 30 years on the house, recently it started to cause problems with the roof and eves, but then, those needed a bit of a fix anyway.

Generally Wisteria are grown up houses anyway. They grow slow enough to be able to check them if they are a problem with rooves etc. They dont stick to the walls , so not sure how they could be a problem.If you have whips on them now is the time to cut them off.
