Yay!

First chilli appeared literally within a few days growing down from a flower, there's a few more on their way.

I just find it so amazing growing things and seeing how it all works.

Yeah Yeah, you can buy a bag of 100 chilli's for a quid, but growing your own is just so much more rewarding.

From what I've read, I need to pick them often as it promotes more growth.

However, I'm still stuck with the fact that only 1 out of 6 plants has actually flowered and is growing chilli's...

You'll probably find home grown chillis are considerably hotter than those you'll buy in supermarket.

Just pick as you like them.  Most chillis will continue producing fruit as long as conditions are right (you do not need to pick to encourage production).

My Yellow pointed hab had 100+ ripe pods on till harvested and is still producing readily.

Annums - nice green or red but let them fully mature (ie; if you want green pick just before turning red, otherwise they're likely to be bitter, poor flavour and lacking in heat).

Chinense (scotch bonnets/habanaros etc), are probably best left till ripe (I don't like them green).  Many different colours, so ripe could be - white, yellow, orange or red etc.
