Game birds stopped laying

Hi my Old English game birds have stopped laying. This happened about a month ago and nothing I try is making them lay, has anyone got any suggestions or has it happened to anyone else?

ok just let them rest up til spring feed as normal .when the sun returns so will the eggs i reckon :)

Old english Game birds just started laying. Out of the 5 hens two are laying and my first egg came on new years day. What a co-insidence. Now I am getting two a day off them, hope to make it more.  :lol:

Yes, I am planning to breed them in the spring, which ever go broody, I will just let them sit them. Or if i have an incubator by then i will put them in there. I can now put pics of all my livestock on as i got a digital camera for Christmas. Will try and put some pics on as soon as possible

Hi Kizza

Good luck with your OEG, I've kept them for the last 35 years and although I've found that they make good mothers, they can be reluctant to sit.  To get around that I keep a few bantam silkies as broodies, you can always rely on them.

Any of the heavy breeds will do and I've used light sussex and RIR in the past, I prefer bantams tho' cos OEG chicks can be a bit delicate when they're little - I know a bloke who swears by Pekins.  Me and the kids just happen to like white bantam silkies.
