Mr Kipling
« on: August 14, 2014, 09:18 »
has anyone tried a Mr Kipling apple and black currant pie lately , I don't buy them for myself but we do shopping for an aunt and she often asks for them , now when we havea cuppa at hers she brings out the ginger biscuits and one time we got one of these pies and I have to say they were one of the worst things ive ever eaten the pastry didn't even seem to been cooked enough , it was bland and just seemed to go to a claggy mush in the mouth and the thin layer of fruit was all bits in a thick sauce .

Woman cannot live by bread alone , she must have cake , biscuits cheese and the occasional glass of wine .🍷

I have and they were vile left an awful after taste, they might label  them apple and blackcurrant but the flavour has nothing to do with any apple or blackcurrant I have ever tasted, and the pastry looked raw, don't usually buy manufactured cakes etc, and I remembered why
:D I garden therefore I am

Had an apple one last year at a works 'do' and it was so horrible I only took one bite and threw the rest away. Apple was not really an accurate description of the pallid gloopy filling either.

These should come with a warning about fitness for consumption by discerning consumers imho

speaking as some one who loves cake I would rather go with out myself I don't know how they get away with it but anty doris likes them and shes paying , when given the choice at hers she gets  ringtons ginger biscuits and they are good , hard but good . I wonder if its why sainsburys sell them for £1 . 00 most of the time .
