Callaloo
« on: June 24, 2017, 12:55 »
Hi Everyone.  Just joined the site as I read so many great hints and tips on growing.
This year we have grown Callaloo for the first time. Only 2 seeds have germinated but they are going well.  My question is when do I harvest?
We are all also growing Tomatillo and cucamelon. You might have guessed I am a huge fan of James Wong and his growing methods. I'm also trying feeding the tomatoes and strawberries with molasses!
I have tried to grow samphire but it just doesn't germinate, same with my lambs lettuce. The carrots this year are growing great foliage but tiny roots and the runner beans have hardly any leaves and they are very pale green. :(
Any tips will be very gratefully appreciated.
Loving the constant drizzle today, it's been so hot and dry in Kent.

Hi there and welcome. Sounds like you have a wide variety of things on the go!

I can proffer an answer about your beans: they need to make more chlorophyll and for that they need Magnesium, so a watering with Epsom salts (4 heaped tsp in a watering can) will help them along no end, plus a feed of chicken manure pellets for Nitrogen.

I am sure Callalloo growers will help with your other question pretty soon

Do let us all know how the molasses turns out!

Welcome to the site  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
